Hot tub filters  have a maximum lifespan of two years and after this time frame has been reached, you will need to discard the hot tub filter.  The material that makes up the hot tub filter will stretch as the filter continues to get older.

Generally, hot tub filters should be replaced after one year.  A filter that is dirty or no longer operates can pose health risks, since the water cannot be cleaned properly.  Additionally, a worn out filter can damage other components on the hot tub and can even void the warranty.

If you are not cleaning the hot tub filters regularly, you are making your life difficult.  You will have to put up with a tub with poor filtration and will have to spend a lot of time while cleaning the hot tub filters.  Cleaning them regularly would be a wiser choice.  You do not want to spend hours cleaning the hot tub filters, not to mention the poor filtration and its effects on your leisure time.

You should always keep extra hot tub filters around so that you can change them immediately when needed.  By doing this, you will not have to wait for old filters to dry to resume soaking.  You can quickly replace the filters, let the old filters dry, and resume enjoying the hot spa.

To begin the process of cleaning, the hot tub filters cartridge must be unplugged from its place in the tub then rinse it using a hose or under the tap.  let the water run against the filter housing for about 45 degrees and all dirt's and waste removed.  Then the hot tub filters cartridge unit should be soaked for at least 6 hours in a solution of filter cleaner, rinse it and let it dry naturally.  The artificial heat can destroy the hot tub filters component and cause replacement early.
